Captains’ Meeting

The Captain’s Meeting is on Friday, May 6th from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at L’Essor high school, 13605 St. Gregory Street, Tecumseh.

All captains please attend for important tournament information, early sign-in and to hand in your team’s donations.

Team captains can also sign-in and hand in donations on the morning of the tournament, May 7th, beginning at 8 a.m. Donations must be submitted before participation in the tournament.

We are all extremely excited by the amazing participation and support we have received from the community for the 6th Annual Zach D’Souza Smiles4Miles 4v4 Soccer Tournament on Saturday, May 7th in Tecumseh, ON. Thank you all very much!!

Please read this message IN FULL as it contains important information about the day of the tournament.

The schedule is being prepared and should be posted on the website by Thursday, May 5th.

Please note that each team captain or team representative can sign in and submit their team’s money at the Captains’ Meeting on Friday, May 6th in the L’Essor cafeteria , any time between 5 p.m and 7 p.m. We would really appreciate as many teams as possible doing  this , to  avoid a lot of congestion on the morning of the tournament.

All team captains/coaches or at least one representative per team must be present by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday at the track at l’Essor for any changes, final instructions, etc.

The Mayor of Tecumseh will officially kick off the tournament at 9:00 a.m., and vendors will be on site, so players, parents and fans are encouraged to arrive early and begin enjoying the day.

We have many teams participating, and many games to complete, so it is essential that teams be ready to start at their appointed times and fields.

Substitute players are allowed as long as the team has registered the minimum number of players (4) and submitted the minimum entry fee ($25 per player).  Minimum entry fee per team is $150.

All money collected as pledges should be deposited on Friday evening at L’Essor or at the main tent on Saturday morning before competition commences. In case of any problems with collecting donations on line or by using the printable pledge sheet, extra pledge sheets will be available on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Please have address information for contributors ready if they would like a tax receipt.  Of course, additional donations for paediatric cancer research at SickKids Hospital will be accepted throughout the day, but will not count towards team totals after competition has started.

Please note: We have uneven numbers of entries in some divisions and a wide variety of levels of ability, so some teams will have easier routes to the finals than others. Remember that the spirit of the day is Fun and Fundraising . It’s not about winning a trophy although that is always cool 🙂

Remember there are prizes for fundraising, uniforms and sporting behavior, etc, as well as for winners. All prizes will be awarded after finals, around 4 p.m., so please try to stick around until then if possible.
